As Lakewood Church faculty began the process to deposit the weekend’s contributions March 10, they discovered that $600,000  had been stolen. Forms containing members’ credit card information was also missing.

According to an article by the Houston Chronicle, the church’s members were warned to monitor their credit card statements for suspicious activity.

Lakewood officials advised members on its website soon after the theft was discovered to ‘pay attention to your accounts over the next several days and weeks and report any suspicious activity to your financial institution or credit card company immediately.’

Crime Stoppers of Houston announced that anyone with information on the theft would receive an award of up to $25,000. Those who have any tips regarding the incident are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can be texted to CRIMES (274637) and make sure TIP610 is included in the text message.
