On Feb. 18, the University’s Board of Trustees unanimously decided to dedicate the Lake House to Dr. Edward Hodo and his wife, Sadie Hodo. The residence building will now be known as the Sadie and Doug Hodo Residence College.

In 1987, Hodo became the University’s second president and continued to serve in that position for 19 years. When he left in 2006, he and his wife were named president emeritus and first lady emeritus.

President Robert B. Sloan Jr. said that the dedication of the building is a result of the Hodo family’s long time service and contribution to the University.

“Naming the Sadie and Doug Hodo Residence College will serve as a fitting tribute to Sadie and Doug Hodo,” Sloan said in the announcement of the building name change. “It also will serve to recognize their commitment to Christian higher education, their dedication to HBU, and their love for students.”

To celebrate the renaming of the residence building the University will be hosting a dedication and reception April 28 at 2 p.m.
