HBU men soccer makes top five in WAC conference

 Seniors Kristopher Tyrpak and Walter Kromholz were named WAC First Team All-Conference. Freshman Tobenna Uzo and junior Gustavo Alvarado earned Second Team accolades, the league office announced Tuesday.


Tyrpak leads the team with seven assists and is second on the squad with 15 points. He finished one point shy of tying his career high in his last match.  Tyrpak tied a personal best with two assists at UNLV on Oct. 27.


 Kromholz is one of only two Huskies to start in all 17 matches. He has set new career highs this season with three goals and seven points. Kromholz scored two of his three goals in conference play.


Uzo, finished second in the WAC with 11 goals and had two 2-goal matches. In conference play, Uzo was tied for second with eight points, on four goals.


Alvarado came back from a season-ending injury in 2012 to play in all 17 matches with 15 starts. His lone goal was a game winner, which came in double overtime at Oral Roberts on Sept. 2. Alvarado recorded an assist at IUPUI on Sept. 11


The 2013 WAC Tournament begins Thursday and is hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo. The fifth-seeded Huskies will face the fourth-seed – and tournament host – Falcons Thursday at 1 p.m. CST. The winner will face top-seed Seattle Friday at 4 p.m. CST. The WAC championship will be held Monday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. CST with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
