Head football coach Vic Shealy announced that the University football team will play six exhibition games during its inaugural season next fall, three of which will be at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and one at BBVA Compass Stadium, home of the Houston Dynamo.

The Huskies will start the season on the road when they face Wayland Baptist University Sept. 14 in Plainview, Texas.

The University will then play three-straight “home” games, which will be held at Strake Jesuit and BBVA Compass Stadium. The home opener will be played against Texas College Sept. 21, followed by hosting Oklahoma Baptist University Sept. 28.

The Huskies will have a week off before playing future Southland Conference opponent Abilene Christian University Oct. 12. Due to Strake Jesuit having their homecoming game on the same day, the University will play that game at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Moniaci said that the Huskies will be playing in a stadium suited for the University Oct. 12.

“Some Dynamo fans might tell you that the BBVA Stadium is decked out in Dynamo orange,” Moniaci said. “But I will tell you that it is HBU orange.”

The Huskies will then travel to San Antonio to play future Southland Conference member University of Incarnate Word Oct. 26.

The season finale will celebrate the University’s homecoming when they play against Texas A&M- Commerce Nov. 9 at Strake Jesuit.

“We’re excited about playing in 2013 as I believe this will significantly help our program gain experience and maturity as we head into the Southland Conference,” Shealy said in a press release March 26. “The quality of the opponents will be very competitive for us starting out, and we will have to play well in order to be successful.”
