In a Twitter post on Tuesday, senior Indian doubles player Rohan Bopanna hit out at the federation for its decision to appoint a new captain for the tie without waiting for the International Tennis Federation's (ITF) final verdict on the venue. In the ITF statement, they claimed, "Following a review of the latest advice given by the ITF's independent security advisors, the Davis Cup Committee has taken the decision that the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group-I tie between Pakistan and India, which was rescheduled on November 29 and 30, as earlier, the ITF had postponed the tie, which was to be held in September in Islamabad, has been shifted from Islamabad to a neutral venue".

"The ITF and Davis Cup Committee's first priority has always been the safety of athletes, officials and spectators and the decision was made on this basis", the ITF said.

The self-discipline started with Rohan Bopanna tweeting on Tuesday that he was once taken aback by the national federation's resolution to commerce the captain sooner than ITF's resolution on the venue for the Pakistan tie and likewise pointed that the gamers weren't kept within the loop.

The World Tennis Federation (ITF) shifted the game from Islamabad to a fair venue nonetheless that hasn't seen any commerce in idea as far as AITA is eager. What shocks me more is that none of the players were asked or even informed that the captain was going to be changed. "It is not the players' prerogative to comment on administrative matters", Chatterjee instructed IANS.

Bhupathi was once named the non-playing captain of India's Davis Cup squad in December 2016, taking on from Anand Amritraj. "When we bring our patriotism on court with raquet (sic) in hand, we also bring a voice", he wrote. Chatterjee revealed that Bhupathi's contract was already over and he was given an extension for the previous tie against Italy in February in Kolkata.
