Justin Vahl, one of the adults at the child's party, recalled walking into the restaurant with a group of almost 20 people - some as young as 5 years old - and the host promptly asking what race he was. "If you agree with us that this should never have happened, then we look forward to talking to you further".

"This is a ideal opportunity for Buffalo Wild Wings to be a good corporate citizen", the group's attorney, Cannon Lambert, told reporters.

The question shocked Justin Vahl, whose sole goal in approaching the waiter had been to request three more chairs for the 18-person group, including several children.

"I was appalled. I was astonished", Vahl said at a press conference the family held Tuesday after the incident went viral. Speaking with reporters in Aurora, Vahl said the host asked him "what race he was" to which he responded "what does that matter?" Vahl wrote that she and her husband had to explain to their "young impressionable sons" that they "didn't get kicked out, but willingly CHOSE to leave because of the unfair treatment we were being given".

As they left, Vahl and Riley said they saw other embarrassed employees, one of whom was crying and another who handed them a phone number to call and report what happened.

"We take this incident very seriously and after conducting a thorough, internal investigation have terminated the employees involved", the company said in a statement obtained by ABC News.

Election observers from the Group of American States (OAS) expressed their concerns and an audit by the physique is now underway. The protestors, armed with wooden batons and stones, also set fire to the city hall, according to local media reports.

After the conference, a Buffalo Wild Wings spokesperson issued a response.

"We believe that we can fully and positively address the requests that were made this morning", spokeswoman Claire Kudlata said in an email.

"That racist customer continued to look back at us and give us some dirty looks", Vahl said. "We hear these stories and say it doesn't happen around here, but yes it does".

"How is an establishment OK with serving people who try to control which types of people sit around them?!"

Lambert questioned how the company would enforce that. "It's an open question because we need to maintain dialogue".
