Robert Downey Jr. shared the awkward experience of nearly coming to blows with a Hollywood exec in the green room of "The Howard Stern Show" just moments after it took place, saying the industry exec attempted to belittle him while asking Downey Jr.to move away from the Sirius XM monitors.

"I've always had other interests, and according to Scorsese it's not cinema".

Downey Jr. might not be offended by Scorsese's opinion on the superhero trend dominating Hollywood, but he is still proud of the impact his films are making among moviegoers.

Howard Stern and Robert Downey Jr. speculated a little bit about why Martin Scorsese might have said what he said, with the actor musing on the ubiquity of modern genre movies.

"It's his opinion. I mean, well, it plays in theatres. We need all of the different perspectives so we can come to center and move on".

As much as Downey expressed a mild discontent with Scorsese's comments, he also appeared confused by them.

"It would be like saying Howard Stern isn't radio".

And now franchise lead, Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr, has finally spoken out on the issue.

"Was he jealous of the success?" In his mind, Martin Scorsese, like anyone else, is entitled to his opinion and that extends to Marvel and superhero movies.

Downey isn't the only Marvel Cinematic Universe actors to comment on Scorsese's thoughts. "Occasionally, you'll go on some tributary trail of thought I'll go like 'oh that's not how I see it, but I love that you see it that way", Downey said.

Jackson said: "That's kind of like saying Bugs Bunny ain't amusing".

The Irishman director continued, "Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks". Who knows, Alan Silvestri might just take home the Best Original Score statue based exclusively on the merits of his "Portals" theme that plays during the film's epic and emotional denouement.

"I don't see them", Scorsese, 76, responded. "I mean, it is cinema to me".

'It isn't the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being, ' concluded the Oscar winning director.

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing film in history this summer, minting more than United States dollars 2.8 billion at the global box office.
