The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were forced to turn their jet around last night and remain in Lahore due to a dramatic electrical storm, and it was rumored they would cut short their trip and fly home.

Kate Middleton said she and her husband Prince William are "hugely grateful" to the pilot and crew who looked after the royal couple during a flight in a risky electrical storm.

The visit was described by Kate as "really special", according to CNN, and saw William pay tribute to Pakistanis who had endured much sacrifice and "helped to build the country that we see today".

"William and I wanted to come and see an SOS Children's Village like this", Kate continued.

'Few of us have experienced turbulence as bad as that, ' she added.
