Two Indian soldiers and a civilian were killed in firing by Pakistan Army in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to ISPR, Pakistani forces effectively responded to enemy fire, killing nine Indian soldiers and injuring several others. The premier saluted the Pakistan Army for their bravery, valiance, and giving a befitting response to Indian security forces. In a tweet, Major General Asif Ghafoor, Pak Army's official spokesperson said one of its soldiers and 5 civilians were killed.

According to reports, four terrorist launch pads - Jura, Athmuqam and Kundalsahi - located in the Neelam Valley in PoK were totally destroyed by the Indian Army in the operation which was launched on Saturday night.

"In retaliatory firing, 35 terrorists were killed when seven launch pads were targetted by the Indian Army across the LoC", sources added. As per sources, a house, two cars, two cowsheds, and a rice godown have been damaged; 19 sheep and six cattle too have lost their lives in the ceasefire violation.

The civilian killed in the Pakistani firing has been identified as Mohd Sadiq (55).

He added two Indian bunkers were also destroyed in firing by Pakistani soldiers.

Ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir have been at an all-time high in the past five years in 2019, as had been reported by IANS earlier.

India and Pakistan have a long history of bitter relations over Kashmir, which both claim.

There was an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Tanghdar sector, said Indian defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia.

"The Indian occupation forces, along the LoC and Working Boundary, have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy calibre mortars, and automatic weapons", read the statement.

"This escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from 2017, when the Indian forces committed more than 1,970 ceasefire violations", said the Foreign Office statement.
