A San Diego Padres pitcher was kicked and tased by an Arizona homeowner after the player reportedly broke into the house through a dog door.

Nix reportedly told police he thought he was entering his own home but also admitted to not having a doggy door, multiple media outlets reported.

Nix, a third-round pick of the Padres in 2015, has been charged with criminal trespassing.

At about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Peoria police were dispatched to a residence after a 911 call in which the homeowner said a man, later identified as Nix, was entering the house through a dog door.

As Nix and Cosgrove fled, the homeowner fired his Taser at Nix and struck him in the back, according to the police report.

Nix and Cosgrove ran away from the home after the confrontation and were arrested a few blocks away.

"We are aware of the alleged incident involving Jacob Nix last Sunday in Arizona", the Padres said in a statement.

He was supposed to play for the team again this year but tore his UCL in his elbow and has been undergoing plasma treatments and rehabilitation and pitched six games in the minor league this season.

'We take this matter seriously and have been in contact with the Commissioner's Office and local authorities. Police say another man, 23-year-old Thomas Cosgrove, then reached through the doggie door to pull Nix out of the home. Nix spent most of 2019 rehabbing a torn ligament in his elbow after making his Major League Baseball debut in 2018. The left-hander went 1-4 with a 5.45 ERA in nine 2019 starts across three levels.

Nix is now playing for the Peoria Javelinas, an Arizona Fall League team. The team will not comment on the situation further due to "ongoing legal proceedings".
