The latest controversy surrounding American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and former US President George W Bush has Hollywood divided.

Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo has reacted strongly to famous TV host Ellen DeGeneres defending former USA president George W. Bush.

DeGeneres used her Twitter account to address the controversy, tweeting a video of her nearly 4 minute-long monologue talking about it on her show.

Mark Ruffalohas shot down talk show hostEllen DeGenerescall for kindness despite one's political beliefs.

"Sorry, until George W. Bush is brought to justice for the crimes of the Iraq War, (including American-lead torture, Iraqi deaths & displacement, and the deep scars - emotional & otherwise - inflicted on our military that served his folly), we can't even begin to talk about kindness", he wrote in a scathing tweet.

While DeGeneres maintained a humorous tone throughout her monologue, the host then got serious as she schooled the audience on kindness.

After initially backing DeGeneres's statement about Bush, to the consternation of some of her followers, Jameela Jamil has also come out against Bush.

And while a slew of notable celebs like Kristen Bell and Reese Witherspoon praised DeGeneres for her remarks, many felt even more jaded by the defense and the privilege being expressed.

"You're never getting invited back on Ellen again", one commenter joked, though numerous reactions from fans were positive.

She the addressed the criticism she faced because of being seen laughing with Bush, saying "People were upset".

Mr Bush, a Republican president, opposed gay marriage while in office.

"DeGeneres framed the issue as simply a matter of her hanging out with someone with different opinions, not a man repeatedly accused of being a war criminal", she said.

"A lot of people were mad. And they did what people do when they're mad...they tweet".

Whereas DeGeneres' defiant stance noticed her successful reward, she was dismissed by Ruffalo - who questioned her rationalization and stated Bush wanted to be "brought to justice". When I say be kind to one another, I don't mean be kind to the people who think the same way you do. "They respect her", Freddy Ford, Chief of Staff for President George W. Bush, said in a statement to CNN. "We're all diversified, and I specialise in that we've forgotten that that's k that we're all diversified. but appropriate because I don't agree with someone on every thing doesn't mean that I'm now not going to be chums with them", she continued.
