According to Le Parisien, a member of staff at a hospital in the French capital was overheard telling a colleague that a Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, who has been in a coma for almost six years, may have regained consciousness after being admitted to the Pompidou hospital in southwest Paris on Monday afternoon for "secret treatment". The 69-year-old professor is a cardiac and brain surgeon and is described by the daily as a 'pioneer in cell surgery.' He was the world's first surgeon to perform an embryonic cell transplant in 2014 on a woman with a heart failure.

Michael Schumacher (R) battles Lewis Hamilton (L) during the Formula One Italian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Monza, Italy on September 11, 2011. 'I can assure you he's conscious, ' said a female member of staff in the cardiology unit. The Schumacher family has been extremely private about Michael's condition ever since the skiing accident in December 2013.

He has allegedly undergone transfusions of inflammation-reducing stem cells after he suffered a near-fatal brain injury in a skiing accident in 2013.

Le Parisien, citing sources it did not name, said Schumacher has been treated at least twice previously at the Georges-Pompidou hospital, admitted each time under a false name and treated by a small medical team. Despite a slow recovery, continued treatment is said to be underway after Parisian news outlets indicated that Schumacher was being admitted to a French hospital to undergo a "secret treatment".
