Virtual reality takes flight in British Airways trial

British Airways British Airways to provide VR experience on select flights

Something to look forward to: In a United Kingdom first, select passengers of British Airways travelling from London Heathrow to New York's JFK will get to enjoy a VR experience in the skies as the airline has recently announced an exclusive trial in partnership with SkyLights, a former alumni of British Airways' parent company International Airlines Group (IAG).

BA is also using SkyLights headsets, which will allows for the VR to work regardless of the position passengers are sitting - it even works when they're lying flat, which is something you won't have to worry about while you're cooped up like battery farm hens in the peasants' section of the plane.

The AlloSky virtual reality headsets are designed by SkyLights, a former alumni of British Airways' parent company IAG's Hangar 51 start-up accelerator programme.

British Airways (BA) and SkyLights began testing the technology at the check-in desks at London Heathrow's Terminal 5 late previous year, where passengers were offered a virtual tour of the Club World cabin. This addition continues on from an earlier trial of the technology at Heathrow Terminal 5, giving customers a glimpse of the Club World cabin.
