U.S. congresswoman turns down Israel visit after ban lifted

Rashida Tlaib, the Democrat congresswoman, said Friday she was rejecting an offer from Israel to visit her Palestinian family because it came with "oppressive conditions" that she not discuss boycotts against Israel.
On Friday, Israel made a decision to allow Ms Tlaib to visit her family in the Israel-occupied West Bank on humanitarian grounds, but she rejected the offer.
Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Friday after the congresswoman turned down a special waiver she received to visit her family in the West Bank. "I can't allow the State of Israel to take away that light by humiliating me & use my love for my sity [grandmother] to bow down to their oppressive and racist policies", she said in a statement.
Instead, they put together their own itinerary to visit Palestine - not Israel - no doubt aware of the potential legal fallout given their sponsorship of a pro-BDS resolution. Netanyahu accused the two congresswomen of traveling to Israel "to strengthen the boycott and delegitimize Israel".
Referring to the potential consequences of Netanyahu's decision, Ambassador Baker presumed that "it'll pass in due course when the Democrats calm down and realise that Israel is still a vital ally of the USA and the three congresswomen orchestrated the whole event as a means of trying to harm Israel".
Last month, Dermer said Omar and Tlaib would be allowed into Israel despite a 2017 law enabling the country to deny entry to those who back boycotts of the Jewish state.
The president went on to declare that the only victor in the situation was Tlaib's grandmother who "doesn't have to see her now".
"Silencing me & treating me like a criminal is not what [my grandmother] wants for me".
'No surprise' over leaked Brexit report - O'Neill But it was granted a new deadline of October 31, after failing to pass a withdrawal agreement through Parliament. The revelation comes in what The Sunday Times describes as an unprecedented leak of official documents.
"The groups associated with the planned Omar-Tlaib visit to "Palestine" are perhaps even more extreme than these two members of Congress in their hatred of Jews and Israel".
BDS, which stands for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions is an effort to target Israel economically for its position towards Palestinians. Omar has repeatedly disparaged Israel.
"Apparently her hate for Israel overcomes her love for her grandmother", Israeli interior minister Aryeh Deri wrote.
Her son, Rashida's uncle Bassam Tlaib, said the women had not seen each other since 2006.
However, Israel's ambassador to the United States has suggested that the proposed ban did not have anything to do with Donald Trump. Forget about it. Whether Trump was the impetus for Jerusalem's about-face, it's clear that Trump's desire to peel Jewish votes from the Democratic Party in 2020 loomed large in his decision to tweet what should have been private advice to an ally. "And this is a movement that the two legislators have at least tacitly if not overtly supported".
According to him, Tlaib and Omar's trip to Israel and the disputed territories of the West Bank was nothing short of an "act of political warfare".
Trump and Netanyahu are very much part of a violent, racist, elitist alliance that is gaining strength around the world.
"This type of oppression is painful for all humanity, but it is especially painful for me personally every time I hear my loving family members cry out for the freedom to live and the right to feel human".
