The Pentagon reportedly announced that it was hitting a pause on the award of a recently contested Dollars 10 million contract for next-Gen cloud computing services involving the military until the defense administration could review the entire matter put forth by the other participating companies.

"Secretary Esper is committed to ensuring our warfighters have the best capabilities, including Artificial Intelligence, to remain the most lethal force in the world, while safeguarding taxpayer dollars", Elissa Smith, a DoD spokeswoman, said in a statement.

Trump in July had said in July that Amazon's bid for the contract, called the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud, or JEDI, was being reviewed. Amazon was considered a strong contender to provide technology for the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) program - a contract that is also being pursued by Microsoft - but critics argued that the bidding process favored the Seattle-based technology titan. Trump has had a contentious relationship with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, proprietor of the Washington Publish, which Trump has accused of unfair protection.

He vowed to "take a very long look" at the contract and has some Congressional backup.

The Washington Post reported Thursday, citing anonymous sources, that the White House ordered the Pentagon review.

Amazon Net Companies and Oracle didn't instantly reply to requests for remark. Allegedly, a former Amazon employee was working for the Defence Department and recused himself because of possible conflicts of interest.

The choice delays the award of the contract, which the Pentagon had hoped would happen in August.
