"That could result in an additional fine and/or suspension", the game's governing body added.

Kyrgios went off the rails in his Cincinnati Masters clash with Russian world No.9 Karen Khachanov and his running battle with Murphy ended in ugly fashion.

At one point in the drama, Kyrgios stood at the back of the court, wrapping his racquet grip, which Murphy kept telling him he was not ready.

A suspension could impact his ability to compete at the U.S. Open although it is unclear whether the tournament organisers would honour the suspension if it is handed down.

Kyrgios didn't appear to exert much effort in that third set, which he lost, 6-2, and after an awkward embrace with Khachanov at the net, he had more words for Murphy and appeared to spit in his general direction. While heading over to shake hands with his opponent, Kyrgios muttered negative comments about Murphy to himself.

Of course, this is part of the gamble involved when analysing Kyrgios' matches - when focused, he can challenge the best, but with a different mindset, he can lose to the worst.

Earlier this month, Kyrgios won the Citi Open title in Washington and said he had turned a page in his professional and personal lives.

After an early chance for Salah, it was all Chelsea as Pedro hit the bar and Giroud shot at Adrian. Klopp was not amused by what he has seen and did not hide his feelings on the matter.

On the Australian's serve, Kyrgios had a held a 40-0 lead, faulty tennis from the Canberra-native immediately gave rise to a set point to Khachanov at 6-5 (Ad-40) and the big-server of tennis, Kyrgios saved it with a second serve ace and outperformed the World Number eight tennis player in the tiebreaker.

Kyrgios has a long history when it comes to outbursts during tennis matches. "Get me some footage of Rafa (Nadal) playing that quick, that game".

It was another ride on the Kyrgios roller coaster, mixing sublime tennis and some on-court humor with swearing and berating of the umpire, smashed rackets and a collapse from a winning position. Starting the clock before the ball lands.

German legend Boris Becker said he was saddened by Kyrgios's behaviour. Every time. Every time.

While Murphy used his radio to try to find out what had happened, he was seemingly unable to confirm if or how Kyrgios had destroyed his racquets, allowing the Australian to return to the court to start the third set with the loss of just one point.

Unsure what to do, Khachanov held off until Kyrgios was ready.
