Russia's competition watchdog has officially started an investigation on American giant Apple following a complaint received in March from security vendor Kaspersky.

The FAS said that Apple's unjustified rejection of a version of the Kaspersky Safe Kids (KSK) parental control program had resulted in the next version of the KSK losing a "substantial part of its functionality". The complaint notes that Screen Time offers similar functions to the Kaspersky app. When Apple was approached with questions about this issue, they referred this to the previous statement made on April 28.

Kaspersky Lab said in a statement that Apple had asked it to remove two key features from KSK: app control and Safari browser blocking. Apple also stated that these apps utilize highly invasive technology known as MDM or Mobile Device Management.

Apple is also facing media scrutiny within the U.S over its bias to promote own apps at its App Store.

"It turned out that, according to Apple, the use of configuration profiles [in our app] was against App Store policy, and Apple demanded that these be removed, so that the app could pass the review and be published in the store". But Apple didn't specify how to obtain these permissions, in order to use the technology.

Apple recently unveiled the revenues for Q3. The company managed to go over it, and to surprised all analysts by showing revenue of $53.8 billion.

This immediately shot the AAPL stock price up by 4%. The stock price has gone from $192 to $201 in just three days.

Regardless, Apple is seeing a decline in its iPhone sales as revenues decrease from twenty-six and a half billion dollars ($26.54B) to nearly twenty-six billion dollars ($25.99B). Although this may seem like a little number gap it makes a difference of over half a billion dollars. Nevertheless, only time will show whether this optimism will bear fruits. "The balance of calendar 2019 will be an exciting period, with major launches on all of our platforms, new services and several new products", commented Apple's CEO, Tim Cook.
