A NY couple gave birth to someone else's babies after an IVF clinic implanted the wrong embryos in the woman's womb-they were expecting twin girls and instead gave birth to twin boys that didn't match their ethnicity.

Lawyers for the couple told the BBC their possibilities suffered from "the grossly negligent and reckless conduct of CHA fertility".

CHA Fertility Center did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.

The lawsuit claims the Asian American parents were shocked to find that neither baby was of Asian descent, claiming that genetic testing later confirmed the babies actually belonged to two other couples who also used the CHA Fertility Center.

The suit claims the couple wanted nothing more than to conceive on their own, but after having trouble, they sought help from CHA through in vitro fertilization.

Identified in the court papers at Y.Z. and A.P., the couple went to the Los Angeles fertility clinic in January 2018 and underwent months of treatments that resulted in eight embryos.

A couple who struggled with infertility for years are now the victims of a devastating IVF mix up.

There were earlier signs that issues were amiss when a scan published they were gazing for boys, even if the scientific doctors had mentioned they didn't spend male embryos all the arrangement in which thru the therapy. After giving birth on March 30, sources quote the couple "was shocked to see that the babies they were told were formed using both of their genetic material did not appear to be".

"FOX 11 did receive a statement from the couples' attorney in NY that reads, "...the couple sustained traumatic emotional injuries and financial losses as a result of an incomprehensible series of events that left them pregnant with someone else's babies, neither of whom were related".

Jake Anderson, an IVF expert, told CBS News that human error is not uncommon in IVF clinics. But the couple said the clinic shattered their dreams.

"It's this agonizing process to grow embryos". "It is preventable, protocols need to be followed, and they need to be taken seriously". The civil action also alleges emotional distress.

The lawsuit, filed within the Eastern District of NY final week, accuses CHA Fertility and two males acknowledged as its co-homeowners and directors of offences in conjunction with clinical malpractice and intentional infliction of emotional damage.
