Sports analysts are of the opinion that the decision was taken by the stylish right-handed middle-order batsman due to the BCCI snubbing him by sending Mayank Agarwal to England instead of him to replace the injured Vijay Shankar in the ongoing World Cup 2019.

Opener Mayank Agarwal was brought in on the team management's insistence and it is learnt that Rayudu was left quite disappointed by the turn of events.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir on Wednesday blasted the MSK Prasad-led senior selection panel after middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu chose to retire from all forms of cricket, saying the five selectors combined would not have made the runs Rayudu has scored in his career. The batsman played 55 ODIs for India, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.06.

Ambati Rayudu made a decision to call it quits from all forms of the game on Wednesday. Delighted for him & it is a good choice.

Morgan scores and Naeher saves in U.S. win vs. England
The winger, 33, missed Tuesday's 2-1 semifinal win over England with what she told reporters was a minor hamstring injury. Added Neville: "When we got the penalty, I turned to my bench and said, '[We've] won this.' But it wasn't to be".

Rayudu's exclusion from the World Cup squad came as a huge surprise for the Indian cricket fraternity considering he was being groomed for the crucial No. 4 spot for around 18 months. This World Cup was his greatest chance to end his career on a high but was dropped from the squad following a string of low scores. However, despite being named in the list of reserve players for the World Cup, Rayudu was given a cold shoulder.

VVS Laxman, the former cricketer, felt sorry for in-form Rayudu and wished him happiness and peace in his second innings. While he started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians, the batsman went on to play for Chennai Super Kings. Hyderabad Cricket Association confirmed his retirement. The Guntur-born batsman, who could never break into the Test team, was in the spotlight before the World Cup.

Rayudu also played six twenty-20 worldwide matches, scoring a total of just 42 runs.
