USA government investigators warned of unsafe overcrowding at more migrant facilities on the southwest US border, publishing photos on Tuesday of packed cells in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas where some children have no access to showers or hot meals.

In the report, inspectors expressed concern over the safety and health of both agents and detainees.

Auditors from the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general visited five facilities and two ports of entry in Rio Grande Valley.

"They have families, they have feelings", Corredera, who has toured detention centers on the border, said of the Border Patrol agents.

It came as President Donald Trump's administration pushed back against criticism of its migrant detention centres on the US-Mexico border.

There is simply no evidence to support any of the outlandish claims that she made about our Border Patrol agents during her trip to Texas, and she owes a honest apology to the fearless men and women of the CBP who risk their lives to protect this country.

Migrants banged on cell windows and shouted when investigators visited. One photo showed a man in a packed cell who was holding a message reading: "Help 40 Day (s) Here".

Around 8,000 people were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the Rio Grande Valley in early June, when auditors visited the facilities.

Dr. James Dobson, a Christian author and the founder of Focus on the Family, was also invited by the White House to tour a detention facility in McAllen, Texas, last week.

Some of the most offensive posts were directed at Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

"They put their lives in danger every single day".

Aussie police accuse suspect of plotting terror attack
The police made the arrests because they had compiled sufficient evidence for charges, Mr McCarthy said, but offered few details. Three men accused of being ISIS supporters have been arrested over an alleged terror plot following raids across western Sydney.

He added, "They don't want people to know that they have this system of child prisons, that they're locking up children for far more than 20 days, that they're slow-walking their release even when they have sponsors who have gone through the full background check system because they want to keep them in prison rather than releasing them to homes and schools and parks, where they should be".

"It's ironic that Democrats" theatrics and screaming at Border Patrol agents comes after their refusal to properly fund the border the last 2 and a half years. "This is all part of an effort by the administration on their policy from May to say to the world, 'Do not come to our borders if you're fleeing oppression because we will inflict trauma on you and your children'".

"Sickening. Human beings are being herded like animals right now in our country", Senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted, while Senator Bernie Sanders wrote that those in charge of the detention centres "do not respect basic human rights".

A total of 283 migrant deaths were recorded past year, according to Border Patrol data, which is the lowest it has been since 2015.

The detention facilities have become an issue among Democratic candidates vying to face Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

"What's heart-wrenching is that we have both Republicans and Democrats alike in Congress who can't come together for the objective of doing the right thing and finding a solution to our immigration crisis", he said.

One includes a doctored photo of her appearing to engage in a sex act at an immigrant detention center, ProPublica reports.

The news of more hardship for migrants crossing unlawfully into the USA in desperation, particularly amid the crackdown on entry and on seeking asylum by the Trump administration, came on the day the government's own watchdog decried squalid and overcrowded conditions in border patrol stations for detained adults and children. More than 50 children under age 7 were waiting to be moved to long-term facilities, some of them for more than two weeks.

An investigation has been launched after a secret Facebook group for US Border Patrol agents to joke about the death of migrants and make racist and sexist comments about Latino Congress members was unearthed.

Since taking office, Ocasio-Cortez has become a prime target for the United States right - in both political and media circles.
