Roberts-Joseph, 75, was discovered dead Friday afternoon three miles from her home, according to Baton Rouge police, who said Monday afternoon that they have no updates to offer in their ongoing investigation.

Sadie Roberts-Joseph's death was ruled a homicide on Monday (July 15) after her body was discovered in the trunk of her vehicle last week.

Blair Imani explained on Twitter that she is disheartened over the death of her former mentor.

Roberts-Joseph founded the Baton Rouge African American Museum in 2001 and was its curator.

"We have to be educated about our history and other people's history", Roberts-Joseph told The Advocate in 2016. She said her sister lived near her in the Scotlandville neighborhood of Baton Rouge and would check in with her daily.
