A reboot of the original Gossip Girl teen drama series with a brand new cast is coming. A 10-episode reboot of the much-loved series will be showcased on HBO Max, a brand new streaming destination that will be launched next year.

The series will kick off eight years after the show concluded its six season run and follow a new generation of private school teens living in New York City.

The original series writer and executive producer Joshua Safran will return for the reboot project.

The CW is reportedly now in talks to revive "Gossip Girl". It would comprise a whole new generation of NY teens and explore the ways in which NY and social media had changed in the preceding years. Having Kristen Bell narrate was the icing on the cake.

Are casting auditions about to start?

No release date for "Gossip Girl" has been announced.

HBO max is also set to own the streaming rights to Pretty Little Liars, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and friends.

So, if any of the original characters do make a reappearance on the show, they will be older and more likely to be secondary characters, surrounding the new batch of kids.

Although it has been confirmed that the rebooted series will feature a brand new cast, there has been some talk about members of the original cast making cameos.

Others Tweeted reactions from the moment they heard about the new cast.

While some of the original cast said they don't want to appear in the new series, others expressed interest. Nate Archibald was the character played Crawford.

In an interview with PorterEdit, Net-A-Porter's weekly magazine, Leighton Meester said she isn't even interested in reprising her role as Queen B. "In 2007 something like Gossip Girl was a total shock + phenomenon. present day gg doesn't work for so many reasons".

Blake Lively, who played Serena van der Woodsen, wasn't exactly jumping at the opportunity to do the show again, but she hasn't been opposed to it either.

Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey) did not rule out the possibility either when Variety asked him in September 2018.

Do you think we really need another reboot?
