Forty-something Tiger Woods burns bright in inspiring Serena Williams

Serena Williams reacts to being fined by Wimbledon Serena, Halep roll, advance to Wimbledon final

More recently, Johanna Konta reacted angrily when a journalist asked whether she should start blaming herself for her grand slam exits after her quarter-final loss.

However, she will want her serve to be more reliable than it was in the early stages of her ultimately easy semi-final win over Elina Svitolina. Halep is going for her second major.

Serena Williams made quick work of Barbora Strycova, defeating the Czech in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) to advance to the Wimbledon Final where she will meet Simona Halep on Saturday morning. Halep, the senior pro on court, also the more accomplished of the duo, trailed the Ukranian 3-4 in head-to-head clashes, however, she played with little pressure, swinging her opponent around with her point-precise groundstrokes.

But the three-time grand slam victor wasn't done just yet and after successful surgery, the 32-year-old made a glorious return to Wimbledon this year.

So which memory from those tussles will Williams rely on as she gets ready for what could be one of the most memorable days in the history of women's tennis?

"It is one of the best moments of my life", she told the BBC.

Ten percent of the respondents, across genders, stand the belief that they can get a point from Serena come from the 18-24 and 25-49 age bracket.

"Of course, I don't have as much power as Serena, but I have other weapons", said Strycova. This week, in an article in Harper's Bazaar, she reached out to her Flushing Meadows conqueror, Naomi Osaka, in a reprise of her case against Ramos, blaming the media for the furore.

For Williams, she has lost four of the last six Grand Slam finals she has reached, including last year's Wimbledon final to Angelique Kerber.

As well as all the records she's hunting, Williams has the chance to follow Australian legends Court and Evonne Goolagong Cawley as only the third mother in half-a-century of professional tennis to win Wimbledon. I was prepared to fight for every ball today, she doesn't let go.I had to be there, I had to be strong.

Halep, playing her second semifinal here, having lost to Canada's Eugenie Bouchard in 2014, has often spoken about "chilling" this year. Before you make any Williams vs. Halep picks and 2019 Wimbledon predictions, see what red-hot British tennis expert Gavin Mair has to say.

That being said, the Romanian has shown tremendous desire to win in this tournament, and is capable of beating even the mighty Serena Williams, who can be prone to a few mistakes of her own. Having offered up a break point, Strycova crouched at the baseline and rested her racket on her head.

"I look forward to it", Williams said.

"It's definitely a lot better, I just needed some matches".

Williams converted four of her five break points, while Strycova failed on all three of her chances.

Williams has been stuck on 23 Grand Slam titles since winning the 2017 Australian Open while eight weeks pregnant.

But Williams has been a woman on a mission at SW19, getting better with every match after a hard year with injuries. "Always, to play good at this tournament was my dream", said the 33-year-old Strycova, a Czech player who has been talking about retiring this year.
