The new MacBook Air also comes with True Tone on the 13-inch Retina display that can automatically adjust the color temperature of the display for different lighting conditions.

Both the updated MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be made available for consumers to purchase via Apple Authorised Resellers from July 25.

Overall, the MacBook Air weighs 1.25kg and it is 15.6mm thin. A True Tone display upgrade comes along for the ride.

So, the MacBook Air definitely just became more tempting for students, and indeed for everyone given that Apple's asking price has been reduced by £100 or $100 for all-comers.

The base 13” MacBook Pro now has a touch bar (originally, it launched with F keys) and Touch ID.

This model starts at $1,300 (128GB SSD), but theres a Core i7 version for $300 more and you can add more RAM (starts at 8GB, 16GB is $200 extra) and more storage too.

The biggest improvements, however, are to the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple has revealed a surprise refresh, updating the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, while giving the latter a price cut - and entirely dropping the 12-inch MacBook from its laptop line-up.

Price: $1,299 / $1,499 in the United States and starts at Rs 1,19,000 in India.

The $1,299 starting model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro has been updated with an 8th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, and finally gains the Touch Bar, Touch ID functionality and T2 Security chip of its more premium siblings.

"College students love the Mac - it's the notebook they rely on from the dorm room to the classroom, and the No. 1 choice among higher education students", said Tom Boger, Apple's senior director of Mac Product Marketing. This means the MacBook Air lineup now starts at Rs. 99,000.

The main differences now between the entry-level MacBook Pro and pricier model is two Thunderbolt 3 ports versus four ports, faster performance and more powerful Iris graphics. You can grab a free pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with several Mac and MacBook models (including the two new laptops from today, of course).

For students, the new MacBook Air can be yours from as low as RM4,299 for the 128GB model and RM5,099 for the 256GB variant.
