Trump's campaign for his 2020 re-election bid over the weekend fired pollsters Michael Baselice, Brett Lloyd and Adam Geller over leaked internal campaign polls showing Trump losing badly in key battleground states and in many Red Republican states to Democrats in the 2020 election.

Sanders acknowledged on Sunday that "polls go up and polls go down" but insisted that the survey showed he was the strongest candidate to defeat Trump.

In a statement to NBC, the campaign said that all news about Trump's polling is "completely false". That combined 62% compared with a combined 37% who said they were enthusiastic or comfortable with a Trump vote, the poll shows. Biden's negatives were lower: 31% reported being "very uncomfortable" with him, although that's up from 24% in the previous poll.

A combined 64 percent of them say they're enthusiastic/comfortable about her (up from 57 percent in March), while a combined 27 percent have reservations or are very uncomfortable (down from 33 percent).

The campaign also tested other Democratic presidential candidates against Trump, however, Biden polled the best of the group, according to the source.

A combined 64% of likely Democratic voters, up from 57% in March, said they were enthusiastic or comfortable about the MA senator and former Harvard law professor, a favorite among the party's progressive wing. We're winning in Florida very big'.

The NBC poll showed Trump's job approval at 44%, down from 46% in late April and early May, a decline well within the survey's margin of error.

A belief among Democratic voters that Biden is best positioned to defeat Trump in 2020 was cited by three-quarters of Democrats as a decisive factor in their support.

Elizabeth Warren has been steadily rising in the polls, only recently reaching statistical equivalency with Senator Sanders, whose support has been slipping.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old New Yorker who has emerged as a heroine to young progressives, suggested that Democrats could be in trouble in 2020 if they fail to nominate an energising candidate with working-class appeal.

A first-term lawmaker with a large social media presence, AOC, as she's known, could have a outsized impact on the primary race.

A person familiar with the purge said the firings were less about the accuracy of the polling and more about meeting the President's demands. "We haven't even had our first debates yet".

The president does not officially launch his re-election campaign until Tuesday, at a rally-style event in a huge arena in Orlando, Florida. Democratic hopefuls have been flooding early primary states including Iowa, New Hampshire and SC.

The campaign's move, which saw the purge of three of its five pollsters, was aimed at limiting the number of outsiders who could leak unfavorable poll numbers, according to the New York Times. That also includes a mix of states from New Hampshire to SC to Texas.

Sen. Bernie Sanders would beat Trump 49 to 40 percent.

When primary voters named their first choice Biden had a bigger lead: 31% against 17% for Warren, with Sanders at 16% and Harris at 10%.
