The Houthis have been at war with a Saudi-UAE led military coalition in Yemen since 2015, when the latter launched an intervention in the form of a massive air campaign aimed at reinstalling the internationally-recognised government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who was earlier toppled by the Houthis.
US President Donald Trump has been briefed about a missile strike on Saudi Arabia, the White House said today, after Yemeni rebels claimed an attack on a power station in the kingdom's south.
The attacks come amid heightened regional tensions with Iran, which Saudi Arabia has repeatedly accused of supplying sophisticated weapons to the rebels.
Shuqaiq is in the southwestern Saudi province of Jazan bordering Yemen.
The spokesman vowed more attacks against "vital facilities in Saudi Arabia".
Last week, a rebel missile hit an global airport in Abha, Saudi Arabia, wounding 26 people.
The group, which ousted the Saudi-backed, internationally recognised government from power in Yemen's capital Sanaa in late 2014, stepped up attacks on Saudi Arabia after a lull past year ahead of United Nations -led efforts to end a war that has killed thousands and pushed Yemen to the brink of starvation.
"These media statements represent an outright admission of their full responsibility for the terrorist attacks targeting civilian-populated areas", said Al Malki.
