Danny Mills has suggested that Rangers have the edge over Leeds United in the summer transfer window when it comes to the arrival of Ryan Kent.

Leeds made a formal offer to take the Oldham-born wide man on loan next season, but sources close to the situation have told Goal that Kent's preference would be to either stake a claim for a first-team spot at Liverpool or to join another club permanently. There is likely to be a bit of hero worship of Gerrard from the player.

At the continental stage, the Jurgen Klopp-tutored side were also no pushovers as they enjoyed an impressive run to the finals of the Champions League.

But with his loan deal expiring in May, Kent has returned back to Melwood but Jurgen Klopp is planning to send him out once again.

"He would be a fabulous addition to the Rangers squad".

The 22-year-old is in demand following an excellent season with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

To this day, it has not been confirmed as to why the move fell through after reports emerged on social media that appeared to show the player in Liverpool colours, taking part in official interviews for the club's TV channel.

Rangers will do doubt be keen on keeping Kent on their books for at least another season as they look to win a major trophy next term and pose a more serious threat to Celtic.

Kent is wanted back at Ibrox by manager Steven Gerrard following his productive loan spell last season, where he quickly became a fans' favourite.

Leeds could certainly use Kent in their promotion efforts but it remains to be seen where the attacker will end up for 2019-20.
