Julius Randle will be looking to cash in after his best season in the league.

Julius Randle will not exercise his player option with the New Orleans Pelicans and will become a free agent this summer, sources confirmed Sunday evening (June 16).

The 6-foot-9 Randle signed a one-year contract with the Pelicans last summer that included a $9.1 million player option for 2019-20.

During the 2018-19 campaign, Randle averaged 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.

Randle found his way to New Orleans, primarily due to the recruitment of his former University of Kentucky teammate Anthony Davis.

The Seminoles (1-0) move to the winners bracket of the College World Series in a double elimination tournament format. FSU advanced to Omaha with surprising victories at Georgia in the regional round and at LSU in the super regionals.

Much of the National Basketball Association talk this week has involved the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers, and for good reason with the two teams agreeing to a blockbuster trade that will send Anthony Davis to the Lakers for a number of players and picks.

The Pelicans own the No. 1 overall draft pick and are widely expected to Duke forward Zion Williamson.

The No. 4 pick could be traded. He also emerged as a three-point threat, making 34.4 percent of his attempts.

The 24-year-old was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, seventh overall, at the 2014 NBA Draft.
