Opko Health says over 400,000 customers likely affected by data breach

Quest Diagnostics says nearly 12 million patients could be affected by data breach Data breach at two medical labs could potentially impact 20 million

"Quest is taking this matter very seriously and is committed to the privacy and security of our patients' personal information", the Secaucus-based medical laboratory company said in a press release. Then on Friday, AMCA told Quest that the information of 11.9 million patients may have been accessed.

The data breach that potentially exposed the personal and healthcare information of almost 12 million Quest Diagnostics customers has also possibly affected another 7.7 million customers of fellow lab testing company LabCorp.

Quest Diagnostics and Optum 360 requested information from AMCA about the breach, but AMCA has yet to provide complete, detailed information about the incident to them, the SEC report also said.

Days after news broke about a data breach at Quest Diagnostics, we're learning of another breach at LabCorp. Quest said that AMCA's payment system was compromised on August 1, 2018 and remained vulnerable through March 30.

Opko Health learned June 6 that 422,600 patients may have had their data exposed in the breach.

LabCorp reportedly had the credit card or bank information of around 200,000 customers on file with AMCA, and that information may have been impacted as well.

The FBI severed ties with Steele on October 31st, 2016, for disclosing his relationship with the bureau to the media. Whether to testify or not would be Steele's decision since he is no longer in government service, the source added.

AMCA did, however, provide some information to the affected companies including the dates of the unauthorized access to their systems, the type of data to which the user had access, and the number of patients whose data was affected.

Warner said he wanted more information about the company's vendor selection and due diligence process, sub-supplier monitoring, vendor evaluation policies and what it plans to do about its other vendors.

BioReference Laboratories, a unit within Opko Health, has suspended collection requests to AMCA since October 2018 and has asked AMCA to stop processing any pending collection requests, reports Reuters.

State attorneys general and other state agencies will also be notified by AMCA regarding the data breach "as required by applicable state data breach laws".

"As a result of the data breach, plaintiff and class members have been exposed to".
