In a conversation with Recode's Kara Swisher, Netflix VP Cindy Holland teasingly asked "Russian Doll" star and co-creator Natasha Lyonne if she'd be interested in a second season.

"It's such a personal show for me, it's very autobiographical, especially in the sort of thematic sense". "The character is a coder so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place to say, yes".

"If you spend a lot of time walking in NY (or anywhere else, probably), "Russian Doll" will leave you conscious of the myriad ways death could be around any corner, or teetering on any windowsill".

The streaming site announced at the CODE Conference in Arizona on Tuesday, June 11 that the critically acclaimed comedy-drama series will live on for another loopy season.

Season 1 of Russian Doll followed Nadia (Lyonne) as she found herself caught in an endless loop of attending her own birthday party only to die at the end of the night.

Netflix just announced they've renewed the TV show for a second season, Variety reports.

Those who have seen the first season may be wondering how the show will continue the story after its beautifully complete ending - but in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in February, Headland said they had always planned for the show to continue. She said that she took "a bit of relief in the algorithm", as it meant the show was able to target those she knew would be interested in the show's quirkier themes, rather than catering for a broader or more mainstream audience.

Poehler initially sold the series to Netflix as part of a three-season deal, likely dependent on how well the first season went, so it is probably fair to assume that we have at least two more seasons on the way over the next few years.

So is there more to tell in Nadia's story, or will she serve as just one piece of a larger anthology series? However - and this is a crucial "however" - there is the question of content when it comes to Russian Doll season 2.
