Well, thanks to The National Sound Library of Mexico, you can now hear the Mexican artist's voice.

One of the world's most recognisable faces may finally have a voice, after an audio recording believed to be of Frida Kahlo was discovered in Mexico.

The voice appears to match an often quoted description by photographer Gisele Freund, who once wrote, "Frida smokes, laughs, speaks with a warm and melodious voice".

Kahlo describes Diego Rivera, a man she shared a passionate and tumultuous relationship with, as being "a very big enormous child, with a friendly face and a sad gaze" in the recording. It is like the audio was recorded between 1953 and 1954, before passed away in 1954. The show featured a profile of Diego Rivera, Kahlo's muralist husband, Mexico's Department of Culture said in a news release.

The 25-year-old played in just eight games last season before landing on IR with a shoulder injury in early December. His production in the National Football League has been low, with 13 receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns.

"With an Asiatic head from which dark hair grows, so thin and fine that it appears to float in the air, he is a huge, enormous child, with a friendly face and a sad gaze", what is thought to be Kahlo's voice reads liltingly, in Spanish.

An investigation into 1300 other recordings of El Bachiller is now underway to see if more of Kahlo's sweet voice exists. They nearly come out of their sockets because of their swollen and protuberant eyelids - like a toad's.

In the statement, Secretary of Culture Alejandra Frausto says that various institutions will continue to work and analyze the sound file to "determine if it is indeed the voice of Frida Kahlo". Pavel Granados, the library's national director, says Kahlo's voice is the one most requested by visitors to the archives. The collection of 'El Bachiller' contains another 1,300 tapes that will be digitised to see if there are other recordings by Kahlo.
