Chicago Police Release Footage of Jussie Smollett with Noose Around Neck

Lora Ball | 25 June, 2019, 03:48

Just when you thought you'd seen it all, Chicago PD has released hundreds of case files amassed throughout the investigation into Jussie Smollett's infamous kidnapping hoax - among them: a body cam video that shows him apply a rope to his neck completely unassisted.

Police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi released the content Monday afternoon, which included almost 70 hours of video.

Smollett is still wearing the noose during the interview with officers inside his apartment, the video shows.

"Do you want to take it off or anything?" one of the officers ask.

The footage from a body camera worn by a police officer who responded on January 29 to what Smollett said was a racist and homophobic attack by two large men has blurred out Smollett's face because, police explained, he was considered a victim at that point. He then begins to unwind the rope and says, "There's bleach on me".

"There's bleach on me, they poured bleach on me", Smollett adds.

Iran Says US Cyberattacks Aimed to 'Cripple' Iranian Missiles Failed
US Cyber Command targeted the Iran military's computer systems used to control some of the country's rocket and missile launchers. On Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blamed the United States' "interventionist military presence" for fanning the flames.

He's later heard saying he doesn't want to be filmed and the body camera is shut off. After investigating the incident, Chicago police claim that Smollett staged the attack with the help of the Osundairo brothers, who he knew.

Smollett claimed to have been assaulted by two men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him on January 29.

The video cuts short because Smollett asked police to turn off their bodycams in order to preserve his privacy.

Both spent the days immediately after their release holed up with police minders at a hotel inside the Chicago Loop to prevent them contacting or being contacted by Smollett.

Smollett's accomplices told police that they were paid to conduct the fake attack in order to garner sympathy for the actor.
