Sudan's ousted president Omar Al Bashir has met with Public Prosecutors in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, to hear charges that will be brought against him in a trial scheduled to begin next week.

Bashir was ousted by the military in an April 11 coup following months of protests against rising prices and a weak economy that ultimately morphed into calls for his 30 year rule to end.

Prosecutor Alaeddin Dafallah told reporters that the former strongman was facing charges of "possessing foreign currency, corruption and receiving gifts illegally".

Those groups insist they want the Transitional Military Council to make way for a civilian government.

A spokesman with the military's media office confirmed that Sunday was the first time the former president had been taken out from his prison in Khartoum.

A top Sudanese general said yesterday that he would execute anyone found responsible for killing protesters after June 3, when security forces moved to break up a sit-in outside the headquarters of the armed forces in Khartoum.

The top USA diplomat to Africa said there must be an "independent and credible" investigation into the Sudanese military's violent dispersal of a protest camp in the capital earlier this month, and the ruling military council said it would announce the findings of its own investigation on Saturday.

Civil-led protesters are championing for the military to hand over the power to the civilian class, whereas the military, which is now exhibiting its ironclad grip on power, is reluctant to hand over power to the civilian class.

"We are working laborious to take these that did this to the gallows", Hemeti mentioned in a televised speech, in accordance with the AFP info agency.

At least 128 people have been killed since the June 3 crackdown, the majority the day the sit-in was cleared, according to doctors linked to the protest movement.

Security forces said recently that they had seized more than Dollars 113m worth in cash in three currencies from Bashir's residence.

The military- backed authorities say only 61 people have died, including three security forces.

After to speakers, the protesters marched around Forest Place chanting "Stop the killing in Sudan" and "Stop the war in Darfur".

General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo told a gathering of pro-military supporters in the capital that "our problem is a non-elected legislative body which would root out all of us".

Nagy said the USA has been supporting mediation efforts by the African Union and Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to resume negotiations between the military council and protesters.

TMC spokesman General Shamseddine Kabbashi has expressed "regret" over the crackdown.
