Tokyo - US President Donald Trump addressed around 800 troops at a US naval base in Japan on Tuesday before ending his four-day state visit to the country.

Trump's visit to Japan was created to highlight the U.S. -Japan alliance and showcase the warm relations between the two leaders.

"We're spending all that money on electric and nobody knows what it's going to be like in bad conditions", he said.

But Monday, Trump offered assurances that he can live with the Islamic republic's government, whose toppling has always been a dream for Washington hardliners.

Trump also told the troops he plans to have traditional steam-powered catapults installed aboard future US ships instead of modern electromagnetic ones.

During a news conference Monday, Trump pointed to the North Korean statement about Biden's "low IQ" and attributed it to its leader, Kim Jong Un.

Pressed on whether he was supporting a dictator over a former United States vice president, Trump recited a host of complaints about the Obama-Biden administration.

Trump on Tuesday wound up a four-day state visit featuring golf, sumo, a state dinner with Emperor Naruhito and inspections of USA and Japanese warships meant to showcase the alliance, but shadowed by a feud over the two-way trade gap.

"On this Memorial Day evening in the United States, Americans are concluding a sacred day of remembrance, reflection and prayer", Trump said.

Trump was in Japan to meet Japan's new emperor Naruhito and hash out a trade deal with the prime minister.

When asked if he was bothered by the missile tests, Trump said: "No, I'm not".

President Trump and Abe held hours of talks Monday after the US president, at Abe's invitation, became the first world leader to meet Japan's new emperor, Naruhito, who ascended to the throne May 1.

President Trump has tried to pressure China by slapping tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars of Chinese goods.
