In a Monday statement by the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), officials encouraged clients of the VIP Spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to get free and confidential testing for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C at testing sites after two cases of HIV infections among the spa's clients came to light.

The infected clients visited the spa between May and September 2018.

According to a report from the Albequerque Journal, New Mexico Department Of Health shut down VIP spa for unsanitary practices in 2018, and urged anyone who had the vampire facial treatment - in which a technician takes a sample of your blood and then injects it back into your face - between the months of May to September past year to get tested for HIV, Hepatitis C and other blood-borne infections.

A "vampire facial" involves injecting a client's own blood into the face to replenish the skin. If the micro-needling pen, for instance, isn't properly sterilized between multiple clients' procedures, then customers could be exposed to blood-borne diseases.

Vampire facials are said to rejuvenate the skin by drawing blood in order to extract platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is supposed to help improve cell turnover in the skin.

According to the NMDOH, the two former spa clients were recently infected with the same HIV virus, which they said increases the likelihood they may have contracted the virus from a procedure at the VIP Spa.

Samsung Galaxy S10 sales are solid, but chip business brings profits down
In addition to the declining profitability of its chip business, falling demand for its displays has also had an effect. But he was released in February previous year after several of his convictions were quashed on appeal.

The department has not found any evidence of other procedures risking HIV exposure.

You might be wondering how an unsuspecting person getting a facial at a spa could end up with a blood-borne infection like HIV.

VIP Spa shuttered last September after state agencies found issues with how needles were handled and disposed.

'Testing is important for everyone as there are effective treatments for HIV and many hepatitis infections'.

NMDOH is now encouraging anyone who received treatment at the spa to come in for free HIV and hepatitis B and C testing. "I think it's absolutely paramount to make sure that that is occurring".
