He was found not guilty of the more serious charge of second degree murder.

The jury has reached a verdict in the murder trial of Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor who shot dead Australian life coach Justine Ruszczyk Damond.

There was "no evidence of a threat" when Damond fired the shot, Freeman said.

Damond, who had moved to the US a few years earlier, was an Australian yoga teacher, counselor and meditation coach.

Mohamed Noor, 33, who was sacked from the Midwestern city's police force, was convicted of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. "I couldn't breathe", explained Noor who cried on the stand. Neither Noor nor his partner, Matthew Harrity, mentioned it to investigators at the scene, with Harrity first mentioning it three days later in an interview with state investigators. Prosecutors say Noor acted unreasonably and the shooting wasn't justified. Harrity and Noor were the officers who arrived on the scene.

In his only public statement about the shooting, Noor testified that after he heard the loud noise, he saw fear in Harrity's eyes and heard his partner yell, "Oh Jesus!" as he went for his weapon.

She is the first player to win two titles in this season. "It was unbelievable to see the arena full every day", she said. But then, Osaka's winning experience from the Indian Wells, US Open, and the Australian Open came to play.

Noor, who was in the passenger seat of the squad auto, shot Damond through the open window on the driver's side after he and Harrity were "spooked" by a noise, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said. Noor claimed the woman raised her right arm.

They also presented evidence during the trial that Ruszczyk's fingerprints were not found on the outside of the squad vehicle and put two police use-of-force experts on the stand who argued Noor was reckless in his decision to fire.

"I fired one shot", he said, later adding: "My intent was to stop the threat and save my partner's life".

Noor is a Somali-American whose hiring in 2015 was trumpeted by city leaders seeking to diversify the police force.

The officer's body cameras weren't on and there isn't a video of the shooting.
