Judge rejects Trump request to halt congressional subpoenas

In his ruling, U.S. District JudgeEdgardo Ramossaid he disagrees with the arguments from the Trump family attorneys that the subpoenas don't have a legitimate legislative goal.
Federal judgeEdgardo Ramos, appointed by former President Barack Obama, rejected a preliminary injunction, sought by Trump's attorney's, to stop Deutsche Bank and another major banking institution from complying with a subpoena from Congress for his family's financial records. Congressional Democrats have long said they want to examine the bank's loans to the Trump and Kushner businesses, particularly to see if there is any connection to money-laundering in Russian Federation. But Deutsche Bank has not challenged the subpoena directly - an unusual and potentially disloyal move by a financial giant on behalf of one of its biggest clients.
In his ruling from the bench, Ramos said he would not halt enforcement of the subpoena.
President Trump has already given his opinion on Judge Mehta's unfavorable ruling, saying, "It's totally the wrong decision by, obviously, an Obama-appointed judge".
On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Trump's press conference a "stunt" and a "temper tantrum" meant to deflect attention away from the court decisions. "So far, I think the president would be wise to come to the realization that our legitimate areas of inquiry are going to be supported by the courts", Michigan Democrat Representative Dan Kildee told Reuters.
