At Computex this week, the company showcased its 10 generation (10nm) Ice Lake silicon. Codenamed Ice Lake, the new processor's tout an 18% increase in IPC performance over the Skylake generation.
For professionals, Intel launched 9th Gen Intel Core vPro processors, bringing Intel Core i9 to the best for business platform for the first time. As per Intel Ice Lake has double its performance in graphics of its previous 15W parts as Gen11 Integrated graphics now has 1.12 teraflops of FP32 compute power. But the new core is created to have more execution units, wider out-of-order windows, better load/store functionality, a bigger cache arrangement, and Intel states that this is good for an average 18% raw clock-for-clock performance uplift compared to the original Skylake core released in 2016.
A big step forward in graphics capabilities: the new IntelIris Plus Graphics, based on eleven generation graphic architecture, offers nearly doubled performance for extraordinary video graphics experiences. Reach pro-level content creation capabilities on the go with approximately 2x HEVC encode; watch 4K HDR in a billion colors; game with up to 2x faster FPS and play thousands of popular titles in 1080p. In terms of connectivity support, you can look forward to Thunderbolt 3 and Wi-Fi 6 support.

Intel did ship a batch of 10nm mobile processors code-named Cannon Lake past year, but the release was limited and received little fanfare. For this new generation, Intel is also pushing its new Athena project, which we're covering in a separate article. Ice Lake also benefits from the fact that along with the new 9th Gen Coffee Lake chips, it should be free of the new ZombieLoad and MDS threats to recent Intel Core chips.
