French police arrest suspect over Lyon bomb blast, Interior Minister Castaner says Lyon bombing suspect arrested by French police

No-one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner also announced the arrest of the man on Twitter, but did not provide further details on the suspect or where he was arrested.

French police have arrested four people in connection with the bomb blast in Lyon on 24th May, which had wounded 13 people.

Castaner praised the efforts of the counterterror department of the French police, Lyon judicial police and the French General Directorate for Internal Security.

The man's parents were later arrested and taken in for questioning, as was a second student of Algerian nationality who is a family relation, according to the Paris prosecutor's office, which has jurisdiction over terrorism cases in France. Officials later said the charge was relatively weak.

Heitz said the man then immediately returned to his bike and left on the same path.

Five people were killed December 11 in an attack on the Christmas Market in Strasbourg, in eastern France. The attacker, Cherif Chekatt, who was killed by police, had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror group.

Lyon, home to perhaps the best club soccer team on the planet, is scheduled to host the Women's World Cup final on July 7.
