The minister paid a visit to El-Haram Hospital where those injured where being treated. The first attack killed three Vietnamese tourists and their Egyptian guide and injured at least 10 others.

The bus carrying 25 tourists was left with shattered windows.

Department of global relations and co-operation (Dirco) spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mabaya said four of the 28 affected South Africans had remained in Egypt.

There were no reports of deaths.

An explosive device exploded near a bus carrying South African tourists near the Pyramids of Giza, wounding several tourists according to authorities.

One witness told Reuters he heard a "very loud explosion" while sitting in traffic.

Egyptian security forces are waging a counter insurgency campaign against militants, some with links to Islamic State group, that is focussed in the north of the Sinai Peninsula.
