Cartoonist Defends Anti-Semitic New York Times Cartoon

Times Deletes Controversial Cartoon, Apologizes New York Times blames ‘single editor’ for anti-Semitic cartoon

A caricature that has gone viral was first published by The New York Times in the opinion section next to a column by Thomas Friedman on immigration policy.

Before the ink dried on its first anti-Semitic cartoon, the editors over at The New York Times chose to run another derogatory illustration of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the paper's global edition.

The implication speaks for itself, that Trump is a blind man who is being led by Netanyahu.

"The same New York Times that a century ago mostly hid from their readers the Holocaust of the Jewish people has today made its pages a safe-space for those who hate the Jewish state", he said. The image was offensive, and it was an error of judgment to publish it. Instead of an apology, The New York Times admitted that the image "included anti-Semitic tropes".

On Sunday, as more condemnation rolled in, it issued a fuller apology and partial explanation: "We are deeply sorry for the publication of an anti-Semitic political cartoon last Thursday that circulates outside the United States, and we are committed to making sure nothing like this happens again".

The most puzzling part of all this is that just a couple days before, the Times faced criticism for running another anti-Semitic cartoon in its worldwide edition.

Bielsa then instructed his side to allow Villa to score, with Albert Adomah running, nearly unopposed, into an unguarded net. The fourth and final spot is yet to be decided with Derby County, Middlesbrough and Bristol City all in contention.

The Times apologized for the hateful cartoon days later; vowing to get to the bottom of the anti-Semitic publication.

"Such imagery is always unsafe, and at a time when antisemitism is on the rise worldwide, it is all the more unacceptable", the second statement read. "I am not in a position of accepting or not accepting the apology, but if somebody makes a mistake, I think somebody should be accountable". "B$3 ecause of a faulty process, a single editor working without adequate oversight downloaded the syndicated cartoon", said the Times. 'What does this say about your processes or your decision makers?

It also resembles a different one from the same cartoonist featuring Netanyahu carrying a tablet that resembles the Ten Commandments, which the Israelites received in the desert after fleeing their enslaved lives in Egypt, in what appears to be a desert being followed by a sinister-looking U.S. President Donald Trump, both walking in the opposite parallel of a directional sign marked "Golan", a reference to the Golan Heights.

ADL's Greenblatt told The Times of Israel on Saturday that the first cartoon was "anti-Semitic propaganda of the most vile sort".

Palestinian leaders have said Trump can not be an honest broker for peace after he broke with long-standing US policy and recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in 2017 and moved the American embassy to the city last May.
