A day of volatile weather Thursday was expected to culminate in evening thunderstorms with a risk of damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour and a limited chance of tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service. If tornadoes develop, the ingredients will be there for strong and long-track tornadoes, which is why the threat of tornadoes is elevated.
The storms are expected to move through the Augusta area during the afternoon and evening, which could affect the schedules of some players finishing up their rounds.
