At Star Wars Celebration we learned the next entry in the Star Wars movie series will be called "The Rise of Skywalker", and got an exciting teaser trailer that confirms the return of an iconic series villain.

Menacing laughter from Emperor Palpatine is heard as the screen goes black, then the Star Wars logo is seen in blue. Billy Dee Williams returns as Lando Calrissian, finally reuniting with the Millennium Falcon - and, in turn, with L3-37.

Luke Skywalker's voice is also present throughout the trailer.

Stephen Colbert moderated the panel Friday where fans are hoping to get a title and a trailer for the film that opens nationwide on December 20, 2019. Abrams revealed the film's core group of characters embark on the adventure together this time as opposed to separately as was done in the last film.

"This movie is about this new generation and what they've inherited, the light and the dark", Abrams added. Episode 9 will be the final film in Skywalker saga. And we can't wait to see the whole lands for ourselves. "I feel like we've gotten to a place - without jinxing anything or sounding more confident than I deserve to be - I feel like we're in a place where we might have something incredibly special", Abrams teased. You don't recast that part, and you don't suddenly have her disappear. There's the wreckage of crashed ship nearby, but we don't know if it's his or if this means he has company. "She's so alive in scene", he said. Rian Johnson disposed of all them, but Abrams is back in charge, and he's making a point to show us Kylo Ren's helmet, the symbol of Ren clinging to the past, being restored. I knew her from many years before as well, [from] Episode 7; she was the greatest.

Also returning are the young cast members introduced in 2015's "The Force Awakens" and 2017's "The Last Jedi", including John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd. Kennedy described the film as "the third act of a three-act structure", with Abrams concurring that it's "the end of three trilogies". However, following the underwhelming reception to Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was released in May a year ago, future additions have been shelved for the time being.
