Volkswagen combines its future IQ.DRIVE systems: When in ID.
As for the cabin, the completely new variable interior concept can be individualised to a great extent. Various seating configurations can be adapted not only to passengers' personal wishes, but also to the respective driving mode. When the auto is driving fully automatically, the ID. Pilot Relax mode allows each passenger to adjust their seat individually.
The digital glass-made cockpit, all digitized steering wheel, "AppleSkin" material developed from raw materials, wooden veneers on the door panels are other key features. Seats can be swiveled and reclined to give a "lounge on wheels". Other visual differences include the two-bar lights up front and a more stylized full-width taillight.
Volkswagen Group aims to produce 11.6 million BEVs in China by 2028, more than half of the group's global target of 22 million units.
VW is equipping the I.D. Roomzz with a 82-kWh battery for "a range of up to 450 km (WLTP) or 475 km (NEDC, China)", according to Electrek.
As for power, two electric motors can continuously drive both axles-through an electric version of the automaker's 4MOTION all-wheel drive system-with a total output of 302 horsepower. With this power output, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 62 (100 kph) in a reported 6.6 seconds, and the I.D. Roomzz can reach its top end of 112 miles per hour.
The ID. ROOMZZ will be presented to the public at Auto Shanghai 2019, one of the largest automotive trade shows in China, from 18 to 26 April.
