Nexus 6P Class Action Lawsuit Give Users $400

Google, Huawei Agree to Pay Nexus 6P Owners Up to $400 for Faulty... Google and Huawei agree to pay users affected by Nexus 6P battery issues up to $400

Some Nexus 6P owners complained of frequent bootloops, whereupon the phone would suddenly shut down and attempt to restart, but remain stuck at the boot screen and fail to properly launch for minutes at a time. If approved, all those who bought the Nexus 6P in the U.S. from September 25 onwards stands the chance of getting paid up to a max of $400.

The two companies will be paying out $9.75 million or up to $400 per customer.

Although the Nexus 6P was undoubtedly a success in terms of sales, owners of the smartphone ran into trouble when an update sent the device into a never-ending "bootloop". If we talk about the previous case, LG had to pay $425 per user regarding the same class action issue on their premium devices. This means that if the proposition made by the class action lawsuit is successful, then Nexus 6P users are finally going to receive their money back.

The lawsuit claims that Google and Huawei never admitted that the Nexus 6P smartphones had any issues at all and continued to sell the phone in spite of the ongoing complaints about the bug. According to the settlement brief, plaintiffs alleged that the Google Nexus 6P had a defect that caused two different issues.

As spotted by The Verge, the proposed settlement by Google and Huawei is aimed to pay up to $400 the affected Nexus 6P users to compensate for the bootloop and battery drain issues. Here's how you can claim. However, if you have received a Pixel XL in a prior warranty exchange program, you might only get up to $10.

The settlement is still under approval from the court, with an answer set to be revealed on May 9, 2019. Back in 2017, folks at XDA Developers found out an official fix to get rid of the bootloop problem on Nexus 6P units as well. If you were one of the lucky few who were sent a Pixel XL replacement device for your troubles, you'll receive no more than $10, according to the now agreed upon terms. By submitting both the proofs you can avail $400 settlement. Users who would not be able to provide proper documentation of the issues would also be eligible to receive up to $75 (roughly Rs. 5,200).
