House Dems to drop the hammer on Bill Barr by subpoenaing the full Mueller report Wednesday
01 April, 2019, 21:31
The House Judiciary Committee has scheduled a vote for Wednesday to authorize subpoenas for the full version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report, the committee announced Monday.
Barr has also responded to Democrat demands that the full Mueller report be released Tuesday by indicating that the Democrats' timeline is nonsensical, and based on assumptions about the report. "The full and complete report must be released to Congress without delay". Barr has said he will deliver a redacted version, with an increasing number of categories of redactions he will perform, sometime by mid-April.
Nadler wrote, "As I informed the Attorney General earlier this week, Congress requires the full and complete Mueller report, without redactions, as well as access to the underlying evidence, by April 2nd".
The fact that Mueller didn't make a determination as to whether Mr. Trump obstructed the investigation, but Barr said there was insufficient evidence to establish that the president committed obstruction of justice, has particularly troubled Democratic lawmakers.
The president has taken this as a win, tweeting Monday morning: "Now that the long awaited Mueller Report conclusions have been released, most Democrats and others have gone back to the pre-Witch Hunt phase of their lives before Collusion Delusion took over".

The committee said the Justice Department gave Congress more than 880,000 pages of internal investigative records from the Clinton probe as well as classified and sensitive law enforcement information from an early Russian Federation probe that Mueller took over.
Nadler's committee, meanwhile, will also vote to issue subpoenas for a variety of Trump associates, including former White House Counsel Donald McGahn, former White House Chief Strategist Steven Bannon, former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former White House Counsel Chief of Staff Ann Donaldson as part of the Judiciary Committee's separate investigation into threats to the rule of law by the president. Nadler sent requests to 81 people connected to Trump's political and personal dealings as he launched a wide-ranging investigation into possible obstruction of justice, public corruption and abuses of power.
