On Tuesday, Wade had 30 points in his final home game in a 122-99 win over Philadelphia, giving the Heat crowd plenty of things to cheer about as they sent him into retirement.

"CP played last night, we had our last regular-season game last night and Melo's right here in NY so we kind of made the plan, made the decision to come up here", James said.

Fellow Chicago native and 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama gave D-Wade a shout out before his final go with a video congratulating the 16-year veteran on a great career.

With longtime friends LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony sitting courtside, Wade recorded his fifth career triple-double in his 1,054th regular-season game since entering the league as the fifth overall pick out of Marquette in 2003. The Nets also clinched their first winning season since 2013-14 by going 34-22 over their last 56 games since December 7. This is the last time he's going to be on an National Basketball Association floor wearing that Miami Heat uniform, that number three. He scored 42 points and 13 rebounds to lead his team to the much-needed victory, which eventually proved to be the turning point as they won the next four games to claim the Heat's first franchise title.

"For me, I'm happy with this season", Wade said.

To Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, Wade's "One Last Dance" season proved inspirational.

"This was about the team".
