Attorney General William Barr is back on Capitol Hill Wednesday to testify at another hearing on the Justice Department budget that's sure to be filled with more swirling questions over special counsel Robert Mueller's report.

At the House hearing, Barr bluntly defended himself, arguing that portions of the document need to be redacted to comply with the law. "When we do so, if we don't get everything, we will issue a subpoena and go to court". The attorney general said he expects to release a redacted version of Mueller's report on Russian interference in the campaign next week. "He has been unresponsive to our requests".

Attorney-General William Barr appears before a House Appropriations subcommittee. The letter said that Mueller did not find a criminal conspiracy between Russian Federation and Trump associates around the time of the 2016 election and that Barr did not believe the evidence in the report was sufficient to prove the president had obstructed justice.

Democrats say they will not accept any redactions. Barr would say that, actually, Mueller declined an opportunity to review Barr's controversial letter on the "principal conclusions" of the report, which anonymous members of Mueller's team apparently complained about.

Barr, appearing before a Senate panel on Wednesday, did not say what "spying" may have taken place but seemed to be alluding to a surveillance warrant the Federal Bureau of Investigation obtained on a former Trump associate.

Three Democrats on the Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations Subcommittee are also members of the Senate Judiciary Committee where will Barr will testify on the Mueller report next month, including the top Judiciary Committee Democrat Sen. Barr released a four-page letter summarizing the report two days later and said he would release a redacted version of the full report by mid-April, "if not sooner".

The thing is, numerous pundits that you see on TV, not to mention the anchors interviewing them, the producers who book them, and the newspaper editors and headline writers who travel down those same highways, powered by ink, all come from the same dreamland. Republicans have asked for this investigation now that Mueller has completed his investigation.

Still, Barr maintains that it wasn't meant to be a full summary, and that Mueller declined to review the letter before it was sent.

Barr said in the summary released last month that Mueller did not reach a conclusion on whether the president obstructed justice, instead presenting evidence on both sides of the question.

Facing the intensifying concerns from Democrats that he may have whitewashed Mueller's findings, Barr has twice moved to defend, or at least explain, his handling of the process since receiving the special counsel's report.

Barr is appearing before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee one day after he testified before a House subcommittee and answered many - though not all - questions from lawmakers about the release of Mueller's almost 400 page report. At one point in the House hearing, he tried to cut off any more questions on the subject.

"You're darn right I'm going after them again", Giuliani told the Associated Press of Mueller's team.
