Former Scotland captain Budge Pountney says Ireland will be "a different animal" in Saturday's Six Nations game against the Scots at Murrayfield.

Henshaw was expected to switch from full-back to center at Murrayfield, but misses out due to a dead leg sustained in the loss to England at the Aviva Stadium last weekend.

Joe Schmidt is excited to see Chris Farrell in action against Scotland having revealed that Robbie Henshaw could have played had Ireland not boasted a ready-made replacement.

Henshaw's injury blow, coupled with Garry Ringrose's hamstring problem, has opened the door for Munster's battering-ram centre Farrell to win his fourth cap. But if you get another bump on it, it debilitates you quickly and then you have to make another change.

Lock Quinn Roux is promoted from the bench with Devin Toner (ankle) also ruled out and flanker Sean O'Brien is preferred to Josh van der Flier.

Potent Munster midfielder Farrell has struggled with a series of knee injuries since his last Test appearance, a man of the match showing in Ireland's 37-27 Six Nations victory over Wales in February 2018. "It probably took us until today to really get a spring back in our step and really get hungry because we can't pass up a second opportunity".

"But it's a pretty exciting opportunity to give Chris Farrell the chance to play against Scotland".

"He's coming back to form after a long lay-off".
