Zuckerberg bashed by ex-classmate: "50% Facebook users are fake"

Facebook app on mobile phone Facebook getting its messaging apps to be friends

Facebook, in a bid to retain users of its social networking sites amid security and privacy concerns, is planning to allow cross-platform messaging between WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct. Mint analyses how this will work and the implications. "We are working more and more of our Messaging services with end-to-end encryption, and examine ways to friends and family across the borders of different networks easier to make accessible", said a spokesman for the Newspapers.

Alex Stamos, the former Facebook Chief Security Officer, who now teaches at Stanford University, said that he has high positive hopes from this move, and was just afraid of the previous idea of dropping the end-to-end encryption.

The users are to be offered pursuant to the plans, while still different Apps - the applications would run on a common technical infrastructure, wrote to the two Newspapers late on Friday, citing the person Involved.

A company spokesperson, while speaking to CNBC, ensured that all three apps would be offering end-to-end encryption. The others are Instagram and Facebook.

It is worth noting Facebook has admitted not every detail about the integration has been finalised.

A year later it was again reprimanded for, er, failing to meet the mark (not unlike the United Kingdom itself; the poor sods at the digital committee have had a hang of a time trying to pin down CEO Mark Z), and in 2018 the UK's watchdog concluded the Social Network™ hadn't identified a legal basis for sharing personal data in a way that would benefit Facebook's business.

For users, this might means that what they do a WhatsApp will be associated with what they do on Facebook or Instagram. It requires thousands of Facebook employees to reconfigure how WhatsApp Instagram and Facebook Messenger function at their most basic levels, people familiar with the matter told NYTimes. That would have encouraged real competition that would have promoted privacy and benefited consumers. Acquiring companies tend to promise they'll leave a purchased asset alone, but it never lasts - for mostly good reason.

Zuckerberg wants to keep Facebook users inside the ecosystem which could mean bad news for rival messaging services like Apple and Google. Facebook didn't splurge billions of dollars on Instagram, WhatsApp and its Oculus virtual-reality company to leave them alone forever.
